Instagram, which created a way for more than a few people to simply monetize being popular and quickly became a way for brands to try to infiltrate your phone more, has changed. Big time.
TechCrunch calls it the death of Instagram for brands. We don’t really believe that. But headlines do drive traffic, so nice work TechCrunch 😉
Similar things were said when Facebook took away some of the organic content and brands were forced to pay for their content to become inserted into your feed.
What we do know is you need to be looking forward more than ever. Maintain a presence on Instagram, but be ready to market on whatever is new and next… and then whatever is next after that.
This is what a lot of agencies won’t tell you.
Successful modern marketing takes more time and effort than ever before. Yes, there are exceptions, but your brand probably isn’t one of them.
Technology is changing the communications landscape quicker than ever before and you need to adapt. The way we execute public relations (aka media relations) campaigns, and the results we get, look dramatically different than they did even five years ago. Advertising is different now than it was even two years ago. When we first started executing Facebook campaigns for clients, believe us, it was a piece of cake. Now? Now, there are a LOT of people fighting for that cake.
So what’s the answer? The answer is there is no easy answer. Believe us, we wish there was.
